Job Title: AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot

Location: Kuwait City, Kuwait (Ali Al Salem Air Base)

Overview:

A requirement exists for an experienced AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot to support the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) in Kuwait City, Kuwait. This role provides critical Instructor & Operator (I/O) support and oversight for Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS) under W-TRS TDL 025. The Instructor Pilot reports directly to the in-country Program Manager. The successful candidate must be a United States citizen with proof of citizenship and a current U.S. passport.

Job Description:

The AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot serves as a certified aviation educator, delivering advanced flight instruction on the AH-64D/E aircraft model. Training is conducted at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, for Kuwaiti students, adhering to the Army Aircrew Training Manual and host nation standards. This position requires IP experience at the company level or above. The Instructor Pilot is responsible for providing comprehensive instruction in classroom, simulator, and flight environments, including aircraft systems, instrument flight, mission scenarios, flight management system operations, and emergency procedures.

Required Hours:

The standard work week consists of five (5) days per week, up to eight (8) hours per day, while at the OCONUS work site.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Instructor Pilot (IP) support, services, and oversight for all KAF TADSS.
  • Deliver advanced AH-64D/E flight instruction according to the Army Aircrew Training Manual.
  • Prepare simulator flight hour utilization and scheduling reports.
  • Support briefings and demonstrations of simulators for the host nation.
  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in classroom, flight, and simulator training.
  • Conduct pre-flight and in-flight briefings, and post-flight After Action Reviews.
  • Conduct end of stage check rides.
  • Provide instruction in aircraft systems, instrument flight, mission scenarios, flight management system operation, and emergency procedures.
  • Support services include instrument flight and mission scenarios, flight management system operations, emergency procedures, fault insertion, Air Traffic Control (ATC) services, and simulator weather control.
  • Provide flight instruction, in-flight evaluation, examination, and instruction services.
  • Determine required training objectives and scope, including subjects/tasks and evaluation criteria.
  • Train pilots to U.S. Army or host nation standards IAW aviation publications and regulations.
  • Check-in scheduled aircrews and provide requested mission scenario loads (weather, flight planning data).
  • Ensure aircrews have aircraft-specific operational publications, forms, and flight planning materials.
  • Remain available to aircrews throughout the flight-training period.
  • Review pilots’ flight planning for accuracy and provide critique/instruction as requested.
  • Conduct debriefings and grade aircrews IAW the applicable Aircrew Training Manual.
  • Provide comments in the Individual Aircrew Training Folder (IATF) for instrument check rides and other required events.
  • Instruct aircrews in techniques and corrective procedures to prevent error repetition.
  • Provide instruction on day/night/Night Vision Goggles (NVG) contact, emergency procedures, instrument, terrain flight, tactics, gunnery, aircraft systems, and simulated air traffic control services IAW applicable manuals (Air Traffic Control Manual, FAA Order 7110.65).
  • Provide existing, modified, and/or contractor-developed training tutorials, courseware curriculum, and Programs of Instruction (POI) in English.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for aircrew training manual, aviation procedures, techniques, and related subjects.
  • Stay knowledgeable on changes in publications, regulations, procedures, project guidelines, and training progress.
  • Recommend changes and improvements to existing courses and publications as required.
  • Develop a flight simulator training Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Assist with maintenance and serviceability assessments of all TADSS weapon simulations equipment.
  • Regularly interface with FMS customers at Kuwait installations and provide technical advice/advanced troubleshooting within established guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections of the simulator.
  • Conduct operational readiness checks and simulator maintenance test flights.
  • Safeguard and maintain property, materials, and facilities.
  • Ensure standards, specifications, practices, and quality are maintained per contract requirements.
  • Ensure Quality Control standards are observed and followed.
  • Provide customer assistance and advice in a proficient and professional manner.
  • Possess expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information to a diverse group.
  • Coordinate on-site maintenance with designated Foreign Government representatives to deconflict schedules and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate LCT HVAC and Generator systems annual services and document results.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate required; Associate or Bachelor Degree desired.
  • Graduate of the U.S. Army AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot and Methods of Instruction course.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an aviator with last AH-64D/E flight within the last 12 months (Currency or refresher training may be provided).
  • Minimum of 1000 hours as pilot in the AH-64D/E.
  • Minimum of 250 hours as Instructor Pilot in the AH-64D/E.
  • AH-64Ev6 qualification preferred.
  • Fundamentally computer literate (personal computer use, word processing, database input, electronic publications, web access, briefing/debriefing software, electronic forms/grade sheets).
  • Ability to support periodic travel.
  • Familiarity with the operation of a military flight training base.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lift a maximum of 50 pounds.

Certifications:

  • Must possess and maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) second-class Medical Certificate through the duration of the contract or, if applicable, an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Exam (FDME).

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under training devices.
  • Ability to detect odors or hear noises/sounds to detect problems or flaws.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to meet requirements for obtaining a Work Permit and Residency Visa in Kuwait.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Driver’s License.
  • May be required to travel and will work in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Must possess a U.S. Passport with at least 2 years of remaining eligibility.
  • Ability to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to 8 hours/day; sit for up to 3 hours/day; climb/descend stairs; grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders; read/interpret typewritten print; communicate by voice & detect sound by ear.
