Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Instructor (Part-Time, Non-Credit)
Position Overview
The University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College, located in North Little Rock, Arkansas, is seeking a qualified and experienced Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Instructor to join its Workforce Development and BIC department. This part-time, non-credit position focuses on delivering specialized technical preparation training designed to assist military airmen with turbine engine experience in their pursuit of FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. The instructor will be responsible for conducting a 120-hour course that covers aircraft systems, components, and operations, preparing students for the FAA Oral and Practical Examination.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver effective instruction in non-credit Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technical Prep training, encompassing approximately 120 hours of instruction and hands-on experience.
- Teach core concepts related to aircraft systems, components, and operations.
- Prepare students for the FAA Oral and Practical Examination administered by an FAA Designated Maintenance Examiner (DME).
- Conduct training sessions at the UA Pulaski Tech Aerospace Center, located at 1600 W Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72120.
- Manage class schedules, typically held 2-3 evenings per week from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment, ensuring proper handling and condition of tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Workforce Development and Director of Workforce Development on strategic planning, program implementation, marketing initiatives, and process enhancements.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is updated and maintained to current industry standards.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to support program objectives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in Airframe and Powerplant maintenance and operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching or instructional experience is advantageous.
- An Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school.
