United Airlines is seeking safety-focused Flight Attendants to join its expansive global team. This dynamic role involves comprehensive initial training in Houston, TX, followed by assignment to one of United's key US hubs or other flight attendant bases, where successful candidates will deliver exceptional customer service and ensure passenger well-being worldwide.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possess a valid US or foreign passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages, enabling unrestricted global travel.
  • Willingness to work a flexible, 24/7 schedule, including weekends, holidays, and reserve assignments.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screens (medical/recreational marijuana prohibited), comprehensive background checks (including 10-year criminal history), fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, understanding) with ability to communicate clearly and audibly in emergencies. Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to hear all types of sounds and communicate effectively in high-stress situations (e.g., aircraft evacuations, medical emergencies).
  • Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to uniform, grooming, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck; visible tattoos elsewhere must be credit card-sized or covered and non-offensive.
  • Capable of performing physical duties including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting heavy objects (e.g., luggage), pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.), and sitting in a jump seat with restraints.
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach) to operate aircraft equipment.
  • Meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United Airlines' hearing and vision requirements.
  • Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.
