Candidate Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age at application.

High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.

Minimum one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, aviation).

Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, understanding) with clear, loud communication for emergencies and high-stress situations.

Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish) is highly desirable.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Adherence to strict professional appearance and grooming guidelines. Tattoos are prohibited on head, hands, fingers, or neck (cannot be covered). Visible arm, wrist, leg, and foot tattoos must be credit-card sized (3.5" x 2.24") or covered by uniform. No offensive tattoos.

Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).

Possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport with at least 12 months validity remaining at application and two consecutive blank pages.

Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel globally without restrictions as a working crew member.

Willingness to work a flexible 24/7 schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Capable of physically demanding tasks including lifting luggage, operating exits, pushing/pulling beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.), and passing a functional reach assessment (combined 76-inch vertical / 43.5-inch horizontal reach, without shoes).

Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat and successfully complete a water evacuation drill during training.

Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screens, comprehensive 10-year criminal background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. DOT/FAA drug screens must be passed (medical/recreational marijuana prohibited).

Meet FAA and United Airlines hearing (average loss < 40 dB in better ear) and vision (20/40 or better corrected) requirements.
