About the Role
As a Flight Attendant with United Airlines, the primary responsibility is to ensure the highest levels of safety and provide outstanding customer service to passengers. This involves responding to various customer-facing scenarios with a people-first demeanor, utilizing strong interpersonal skills to resolve issues, and representing the airline with pride. Flight Attendants are expected to be flexible and available for global assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often fulfilling reserve assignments on short notice and being away from their base for extended periods. Dependability and timeliness are critical for operating the airline's schedule and meeting customer expectations. Collaboration and teamwork are also essential aspects of the role.
Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application.

High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college is preferred.

At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry.

Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.

Fluent in English, including the ability to speak, read, write, and understand the language.

Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Ability to effectively communicate during high-stress situations.

Professional appearance and grooming standards, with willingness to adhere to uniform guidelines.

Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck, and visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be offensive and adhere to size limitations.

Decorative covers or adornments on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices.

Must possess a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.

Ability to travel globally without restrictions and enter/exit all countries served by United as a working crew member.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.

Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water during training.

Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; marijuana is prohibited.

Must pass a 10-year background check and ensure background does not prohibit travel to/from United's destinations.

Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
Qualifications

Second language fluency in languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, or Tagalog is an asset.
