Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.

High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college is preferred.

Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation, social service).

Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.

Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Effective communication skills during high-stress situations (e.g., evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies).

Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos on the head, hands, fingers, or neck are not permitted and cannot be covered by makeup or bandages. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card and must not be offensive. Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices.

Must possess a valid U.S. passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages prior to application.

Ability to travel globally without restrictions, entering and exiting countries as a working crew member.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs.

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold).

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Must successfully complete a water (pool) evacuation drill during training.

Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited.

Must pass a 10-year background check; background must not prohibit international travel.

Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
Qualifications

Second language fluency in Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, or Tagalog is an asset.

Ability to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) diligently and professionally.
