Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application.
• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 or more years of college preferred.
• At least one year of customer service experience within a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
• Fluency in English (spoken, written, understood), with clear, concise, and audible communication skills essential for emergencies.
• Fluency in French (spoken, written, understood).
• Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
• Skilled in effective communication during high-stress scenarios such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, and medical emergencies.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere strictly to grooming, uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
• Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the head, hands, fingers, or neck (including back of neck and on, in, or behind the ear), and cannot be covered by makeup or bandages. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed credit card size (3.5" x 2.24") or be covered by uniform, and must not be offensive.
• No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth.
• Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for required tasks.
• Physically possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport book, in good condition, with at least 12 months validity and two consecutive blank pages, prior to application.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screens, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
• Successful completion of a 10-year background check, ensuring no international travel restrictions to countries served by United.
• Meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, including specific audiometry and vision acuity standards.

Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage to overhead bins, window exits).
• Capable of pushing and pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs).
• Pass a functional reach assessment: a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes.
• Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
• Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.
• Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
• Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without any restrictions as a working crew member.
