United Airlines is seeking dedicated and customer-focused individuals to join its industry-leading team as a Flight Attendant. This pivotal role involves ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers while delivering exceptional service across United's extensive global network. Based out of various major hubs after comprehensive training in Houston, TX, Flight Attendants play a critical role in creating memorable travel experiences worldwide.

About the Role

  • Complete a 6.5-week initial training program in Houston, TX, focusing on United's safety and service standards.
  • Upon successful training, transition to a full-time Flight Attendant, assigned to a major United hub (e.g., Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles). Relocation funds are not provided.
  • Receive a $140 weekly stipend, hotel accommodation, and two daily meals during training, plus a $1,000 graduation bonus.
  • Benefit from industry-leading compensation: starting flight pay of $38.21/hour, rising to $100.13/hour by 2030, with annual and seniority-based increases. This is a bonus-eligible (profit sharing) position.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to work a flexible 24/7 schedule (weekdays, weekends, holidays, reserve).
  • Ability to travel globally without restrictions as a working crew member for United.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to strict grooming, uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines:
    • Tattoos are prohibited on the head, hands, fingers, or neck (cannot be covered by makeup or bandages).
    • Visible arm/wrist/leg/foot tattoos permitted if not larger than a credit card (3.5 x 2.24 inches) or covered by uniform, and must be inoffensive.
    • No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth/in mouth.
  • Capable of physical duties: standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stretching, reaching, lifting luggage, and pushing/pulling beverage carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical, 43.5-inch horizontal simultaneous reach, without shoes) to operate equipment.
  • Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat and proficiently operate electronic devices.
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive 10-year background checks (ensuring no global travel restrictions, e.g., for Canada, DWI/DUI requires TRP), fingerprinting, vision/hearing tests. Pass DOT/FAA drug screens; medical/recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
  • Meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements (e.g., specific audiometry, corrected vision standards).
  • Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water during training.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation, social service).
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write, understand), capable of clear, concise, and loud communication for emergencies and high-stress situations.
  • Must be able to speak and read French fluently.
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport book prior to application, with at least 12 months of validity, two consecutive blank pages, and in good condition.
