About the Role

As a United Flight Attendant, ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew, acting as a primary safety officer.

Exhibit excellent judgment and compassion in resolving customer issues, striving to influence customer loyalty through outstanding service.

Demonstrate flexibility and availability for global assignments across United's 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours, and short-notice reserve assignments away from base for days at a time.

Maintain a consistent track record of dependability, timeliness, and teamwork, working effectively both independently and as part of a crew.

Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications

Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application; high school diploma or GED required, with two or more years of college preferred.

At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation).

Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) and French (speaking, reading).

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations, including high-stress emergencies, and hear all types and ranges of sound.

Possess a valid passport book, currently in physical possession, with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible for unrestricted global travel as a working crew member.

Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to strict grooming standards and uniform guidelines. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed credit card size or must be covered by uniform. Tattoos are prohibited on the head, hands, fingers, or neck and cannot be covered by makeup or bandages. Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for required tasks.

Capable of performing all physical duties including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting heavy objects (e.g., luggage to overhead bins), pushing/pulling beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.), and passing a functional reach assessment (combined 76-inch vertical, 43.5-inch horizontal).

Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water during initial training and meet all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.

Willingness to complete pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screens, comprehensive 10-year background checks, and fingerprinting. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the Flight Attendant role.
