Position Overview

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 flight attendants. Training and Onboarding

Selected candidates will undergo 6.5 weeks of comprehensive Initial Training in Houston, TX, covering United’s rigorous safety and service standards. During training, candidates receive a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy accommodations, and two meals per day. Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, graduates are welcomed as full-time employees and receive a $1,000 bonus. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of our seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: Starting hourly flight pay of $37.10/hour, with progression to $100.13/hour by 2030, including seniority-based increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest levels of safety and security at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service with a positive, compassionate, and professional demeanor.
  • Resolve customer issues and represent the United brand with distinction.
  • Maintain flexibility to work a 24/7 global schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and reserve assignments with short notice.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse flight crew.
  • Operate electronic devices to fulfill job requirements and serve/sell food and beverages.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, or social service).
  • Fluency in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Second language proficiency (Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, or Tagalog) is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a valid, non-expired passport (with at least 12 months validity and two blank pages) at the time of application.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year background check and drug screening (including DOT/FAA regulations; marijuana usage is strictly prohibited).
  • Must meet FAA hearing and vision standards and pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend, and pull equipment up to 250 lbs.
  • Professional grooming standards, including specific policies regarding tattoos, piercings, and dental adornments.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
