Position Overview

United is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the primary operational standard.
  • Deliver "people-first" service by adapting to diverse customer scenarios with optimism, compassion, and professional judgment.
  • Maintain a consistent, professional appearance in alignment with company grooming and uniform standards.
  • Demonstrate operational flexibility, including availability for 24/7 global assignments, nights, weekends, holidays, and reserve duty.
  • Work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Proficiently operate electronic devices and serve food and beverages in a professional manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience in fields such as retail, hospitality, education, or aviation.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding); proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and the ability to travel to all countries served by United without restriction.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year criminal background check, fingerprinting, and DOT/FAA pre-employment/randomized drug screens.
  • Must meet physical requirements, including reaching capabilities (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach), lifting capabilities, and the ability to operate aircraft doors and equipment.
  • Must meet FAA and company vision and hearing standards.
  • Willingness to adhere to strict tattoo, piercing, and grooming guidelines.

Training and Onboarding

Successful candidates will undergo 6.5 weeks of intensive initial training in Houston, TX. During this period, trainees receive a weekly stipend, provided accommodations, and partial meal coverage. Graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of the program. Base assignments will be determined following training in one of United’s major hubs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: Starting hourly flight pay of $37.10/hour, scaling to $100.13/hour by 2030. Includes boarding pay, plus additional compensation for language skills, lead roles, and international trips.
