Position Overview: Flight Attendant

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 flight attendants. We provide comprehensive, industry-leading training for all new hires; no prior aviation schooling or college degree is required.

Training and Onboarding

The journey begins with 6.5 weeks of initial training in Houston, TX, covering essential safety and service standards. During this period, United provides a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and partial meal coverage. Upon successful completion of training and base orientation at an assigned hub (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles), candidates will begin their tenure as full-time employees. Graduates of the training program receive a $1,000 bonus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, scaling up to $67.11 per hour.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, education, or aviation).
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write Greek fluently.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Meet physical requirements: ability to lift heavy objects, push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs), and pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
  • Must meet FAA/DOT hearing and vision standards (corrected 20/40 vision; no hearing loss greater than 40 dB in the better ear).
  • Professional grooming standards, including specific policies regarding tattoos, piercings, and uniform appearance.
  • Must successfully pass a 10-year background check, fingerprinting, and DOT-regulated drug screenings.
  • Proficiency in operating electronic devices (tablets, laptops, phones).
