Flight Attendant - Italian Language Speaker

Role Overview

Flight Attendants are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers while upholding United’s service standards. This role requires 24/7 availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Candidates must be prepared to fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and travel globally for days at a time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest levels of safety and security on all flights.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on compassion, optimism, and effective problem-solving.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely during high-stress situations, including emergencies.
  • Perform physical duties, including lifting luggage, reaching overhead bins, operating emergency doors, and pushing beverage carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Support the team by working independently and collaboratively in a professional manner.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: Starting hourly pay of $28.88/hour, with a scale top of $67.11/hour. Additional compensation is provided for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
  • Training: Initial training lasts 6.5 weeks in Houston, TX. Trainees receive a $140/week stipend, hotel accommodations, and meals. A $1,000 bonus is provided upon successful graduation.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation, or social service).
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
  • Fluency in Italian (speaking and reading) is required.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity remaining and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restriction.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
  • Professional grooming standards apply; specific limitations on tattoos, piercings, and dental adornments.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year criminal background check, DOT/FAA pre-employment and random drug screenings (including zero tolerance for marijuana), and vision/hearing tests.
