Flight Attendant - Italian Language Speaker

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. Role Overview

Successful candidates will complete an intensive 6.5-week initial training program in Houston, TX, covering safety and service standards. Upon successful completion and base orientation, employees will begin their full-time role at one of our seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles). During the training period, United provides a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day. Graduates of the training program will receive a $1,000 bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the primary directive.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a "people-first" demeanor, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Operate in a 24/7 global environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
  • Adapt to short-notice reserve assignments and extended periods away from the assigned base.
  • Maintain high standards of timeliness, reliability, and professional grooming.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse crew.
  • Operate electronic devices to complete mandatory duties.
  • Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, or aviation).
  • Fluency in English (speak, read, write, and understand).
  • Fluency in Italian (speak and read).
  • Ability to speak clearly and loudly enough to be heard in emergency situations.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States and the ability to travel globally to all countries United serves without restrictions.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage).
  • Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
  • Must be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with the harness fastened.
  • Must pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history, and pre-employment DOT/FAA drug screenings.
  • Must meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision standards (20/40 or better corrected; no hearing loss greater than 40 dB in the better ear).
  • Compliance with uniform, hair, and tattoo/piercing guidelines is required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay: $28.88; top of base scale: $67.11/hour.
  • Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international assignments.
