Position Overview

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the primary focus in all operations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive, professional, and compassionate demeanor.
  • Resolve customer scenarios with sound judgment, empathy, and grace.
  • Maintain flexibility to support a 24/7 global operation, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended assignments.
  • Execute reserve assignments on short notice and remain away from the assigned base for extended periods.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative flight crew.
  • Operate electronic devices, including phones, tablets, and laptops, to perform required duties.
  • Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, education, aviation, or social service).
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Fluent in speaking and reading German.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel to all countries served by United without restrictions.
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, push/pull carts up to 250 lbs., and maneuver within an aircraft cabin.
  • Willingness to adhere to professional grooming standards, including policies regarding tattoos, piercings, and uniforms.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history, and pre-employment DOT/FAA drug screenings.
  • Must meet specific FAA and company vision and hearing standards.

Training and Onboarding

Selected candidates will undergo 6.5 weeks of Initial Training in Houston, TX. During this period, United provides a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy accommodations, and two meals per day. Trainees must successfully complete a water evacuation drill. A $1,000 bonus is provided upon successful graduation from training.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, scaling up to $67.11/hour.
