Flight Attendant - Global Operations

United is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 active flight attendants. As the world’s largest airline with an expansive global network, we are currently expanding and looking for professionals to uphold our safety and service standards while crafting memorable experiences for our passengers.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will undergo 6.5 weeks of comprehensive initial training in Houston, Texas, covering United’s safety protocols and service standards. Upon graduation, flight attendants are assigned to one of our seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles). This position requires a flexible schedule, including availability for 24/7 global assignments, weekends, holidays, and reserve duty.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay: $28.88/hour; potential to reach $67.11/hour.
  • Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
  • Bonus eligible (profit sharing) and $1,000 graduation bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize passenger safety and security at all times.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism, compassion, and optimism.
  • Resolve customer issues using sound judgment and effective communication.
  • Represent United with pride and maintain grooming standards per company policy.
  • Operate electronic devices to perform required duties.
  • Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, during flights.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Age: 21 years or older at the time of application.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (2+ years of college preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum one year of customer service experience in the service industry.
  • Language: Fluent in English; must also be fluent in Dutch (read, write, speak).
  • Documentation: Must possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel globally without restriction.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift heavy objects, and push/pull carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Reach Assessment: Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
  • Safety Compliance: Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and random drug screens, comprehensive background checks, and hearing/vision tests.
  • Personal Appearance: Willingness to follow uniform and appearance guidelines regarding tattoos, piercings, and grooming.
