Flight Attendant

Position Overview
The Flight Attendant role is a safety-sensitive position requiring a "people-first" demeanor, exceptional judgment, and a commitment to service excellence. Crew members are responsible for ensuring passenger safety, providing high-quality customer service, and representing the airline with pride. Due to the 24/7 nature of global aviation, this position requires significant flexibility, including availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Employees will be assigned to one of seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles.
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation:
Starting hourly pay of $28.88/hour, with a scale reaching up to $67.11/hour. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international assignments. This position is bonus-eligible.

Training Support:
Trainees receive a $140/week stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and select meals during the 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX. Graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.

Key Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum age of 21 years at the time of application.

High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.

At least one year of customer service experience in industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, or aviation.

Must possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity remaining and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.

Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) is required.

Fluency in German (reading and speaking) is required.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to travel globally to all countries served by United Airlines.

Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history, and pre-employment DOT/FAA drug screenings.

Must meet FAA hearing and vision standards and pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting luggage, pushing/pulling beverage carts (up to 250 lbs), and operating emergency equipment.

Adherence to professional grooming standards and tattoo policies (no tattoos permitted on the head, face, neck, hands, or fingers).

Proficiency in operating electronic devices such as tablets and smartphones.
Onboarding and Training
Successful candidates will complete 6.5 weeks of initial training, which includes an evacuation water drill. Applicants must be willing to undergo comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and medical screenings. Candidates must remain eligible to travel to all international destinations, including Canada, without restriction.
