Position Overview: Flight Attendant

United is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 flight attendants. As the world's largest airline with an expansive global network, we are committed to providing industry-leading safety and service. Training and Onboarding

The journey begins with 6.5 weeks of industry-leading initial training in Houston, Texas, covering comprehensive safety and service standards. During this period, trainees receive a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day. Upon successful completion of training, graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus and be assigned to one of our seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles.

  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in operating electronic devices, including phones, tablets, and laptops.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, or aviation).
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at time of application.
  • Ability to travel globally without restrictions; candidates are responsible for verifying their own travel eligibility.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must meet grooming standards, including tattoo/piercing restrictions.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
  • Must meet FAA hearing and vision requirements.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, drug screenings (including DOT-regulated screens), and a water evacuation drill.
