Position Overview

As a United Flight Attendant, you will be the face of our airline, responsible for delivering exceptional service and maintaining the highest safety standards. This role requires flexibility, as you will be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates will undergo 6.5 weeks of industry-leading training in Houston, TX, covering safety, service, and emergency procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the primary duty of every flight.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a positive, compassionate, and "people-first" demeanor.
  • Resolve customer scenarios with professional judgment and effective communication.
  • Operate effectively as part of a team or independently.
  • Perform physical tasks, including reaching overhead, lifting luggage, and operating beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
  • Maintain professional grooming standards and follow uniform policies.
  • Navigate global assignments and fulfill reserve duties on short notice.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service or service-industry role (e.g., retail, hospitality, education, or aviation).
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  • Possess a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year criminal background check and DOT drug screening.
  • Meet physical requirements: pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal), satisfy FAA/United hearing and vision standards, and maintain physical agility for emergency evacuations.
  • Tattoo policy: No tattoos allowed on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, legs, or feet must not exceed credit card size or must be covered.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with a scale reaching up to $67.11/hour.
  • Additional compensation available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
