Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social services).
- Excellent communication skills, able to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to effectively communicate in high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather conditions, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance and grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) for the completion of required tasks.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to expiration and be able to travel to and from all countries United Airlines serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage), and push and pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (simultaneous), without shoes on.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United Airlines' 24/7 operation (including weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc.).
Onboarding and Training:
- Flight attendant trainees will successfully demonstrate an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training.
- Pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests are required.
- Successful completion of DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history. Background must not prohibit travel to or from any location United Airlines serves.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly pay starting at $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour. Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
