Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 years at time of application.
- High school diploma or GED; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in a service-oriented industry.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of speaking clearly, concisely, and audibly in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Ability to effectively communicate under high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, and severe weather conditions.
- Professional appearance adhering to United Airlines uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices.
- Valid passport with 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restrictions.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, lift heavy objects, and push and pull beverage carts up to 250 pounds.
- Successful completion of a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach, simultaneous).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and other shifts.
Onboarding and Training:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training.
- Pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Passing DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Passing a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive starting hourly pay of $28.88/hour, with a top-of-base scale of $67.11/hour.
