Essential Responsibilities
As a United Flight Attendant, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the highest levels of safety.
- Providing exceptional customer service.
- Adapting to and resolving various customer-facing scenarios with optimism, positivity, and empathy.
- Representing United Airlines with pride and distinction.
- Maintaining flexibility and dependability to fulfill global assignments, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of two years of college preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in a service industry setting.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Be fluent in both English and Dutch.
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate during high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather conditions, and turbulence.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to United's uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Be proficient in operating electronic devices for the completion of required tasks.
- Possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to expiration.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to travel to and from all countries served by United without any restrictions.
- Be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push and pull a beverage cart.
- Pass a functional reach assessment.
- Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Be willing to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.
Onboarding and Training
Selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive training program, including:
- Successful demonstration of an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training.
- Completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Passing DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Passing a 10-year background check.
