Successful candidates will undergo a rigorous 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, followed by assignment to one of United's seven hub bases or other operational locations.
Requirements

At least 21 years of age at the time of application.

High school graduate or GED; two or more years of college is preferred.

A minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service).

Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.

Fluent in English, including reading, writing, and understanding. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Effective communication skills in high-stress situations.

Professional appearance and adherence to grooming, uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.

Decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Proficiency in operating electronic devices for task completion.

Possession of a valid U.S. passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.

Ability to travel globally without restrictions.

Ability to perform physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, bending, lifting heavy objects, and pushing/pulling carts.

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.

Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support a 24/7 operation.

Successful completion of an in-water evacuation drill during training.

Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screens, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.

Ability to pass a 10-year background check, ensuring no restrictions prevent travel to or from any United destinations.

Ability to meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
Qualifications

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable. Second language fluency in Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog are an asset.
