Captain Position at USA Jet
USA Jet, a leading North American air cargo company operating within the Ascent Global Logistics framework, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join its team at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, MI. For over 44 years, USA Jet has provided crucial time-sensitive airlift services, supporting the supply chains of valued customers throughout the domestic United States and into Canada, Mexico, and South America. Responsibilities:
The Captain reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and shares operational control during 121 operations with the Director of Operations. The Captain maintains ultimate authority over the assigned crew during 121 operations and is responsible for:
- Ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, adhering to all applicable FAA regulations, USA Jet manuals, and operational specifications. The Captain holds final authority on flight dispatch and release, maintaining a steadfast commitment to safety.
- Maintaining command of the aircraft and crew throughout each flight, prioritizing the safety of passengers, cargo, crew, and the aircraft itself. This authority is absolute and extends to all aspects of flight operations.
- Complete and thorough pre-flight planning, encompassing weather conditions, airport conditions, and navigation facilities. Continuous monitoring of these factors during the flight is also required.
- Verifying crew certifications, ensuring adequate rest, and confirming adherence to uniform standards.
- Ensuring proper aircraft equipment, including aeronautical charts and manuals, is available and functional before each flight.
- For cargo operations, overseeing loading, unloading, distribution, and securement of cargo, confirming that weight and balance are within prescribed limits and that the load manifest is accurately completed. Similar responsibilities apply to passenger flights.
- Confirming that all required pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conducting post-flight inspections, reporting any potential issues impacting subsequent flight operations.
- Assisting other crew members as needed.
- Serving as Customer Resolution Officer (CRO), resolving customer-related issues, and reporting any incidents to the Director of Operations, law enforcement, and/or the FAA as appropriate.
- Following established USA Jet accident/incident/occurrence reporting procedures.
- Sharing operational control with the Director of Operations, including flight initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination.
- Ensuring all discrepancies are properly documented.
- Performing the duties of In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) and Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) in accordance with TSA requirements, including aircraft, cargo, and passenger security.
- Ensuring compliance with all domestic and international regulatory requirements related to air cargo acceptance, inspection, loading, and securement.
- Actively participating in USA Jet’s Safety Programs and Safety Management System and reporting safety concerns promptly. Maintaining safe working practices for oneself and all coworkers. Adherence to relevant Occupational Safety and Health Organization standards is mandatory.
Qualifications:
- Possession of all necessary licenses and certifications as outlined in USA Jet’s manuals and FAA regulations.
- Completion of all required training, checking, and qualification requirements as detailed in USA Jet approved manuals.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
