Job Description: Flight Qualified Leader

Flight Qualified Leaders are a talented group passionate about managing and leading a Flight Operations team. These aviation professionals operate UPS aircraft and contribute to the management and oversight of the UPS Airlines FAA Operating Certificate. They may be integral members of the Technical and Safety Teams, Daily Operations Team, Chief Pilot Division, and/or the Flight Training Division. Successful candidates will certify as a Flight Qualified Captain or First Officer on one of the UPS aircraft fleet types (B747, B757/B767, MD-11, or A300), with position assignments based on experience and qualifications.

This position requires a professional who embraces continuous learning through teamwork and possesses a strong desire to lead, fostering a culture of safety and service.

Required Qualifications:

Note: Pilots who were not a 14 CFR Part 121 PIC on July 31, 2013, are required to have a minimum of 500 combined flight hours from the following categories. PIC hours in Part 121 operations do not count toward this total:

Note: Candidates meeting all other requirements but not the specific requirements of 14 CFR 121.436(a)(3) may still be considered based on overall aviation experience, potentially for an initial management First Officer role.

Note: UPS allows military candidates to add a plus (.3) per sortie factor to their logged flight time for consideration.

As part of the UPS pre-employment process for safety-sensitive positions, a drug screening is required. A negative test result must be received before placement in a safety-sensitive role (14 CFR Part 120.107). Testing will be conducted in accordance with 14 CFR Part 120.109(a)(5) and 14 CFR 120 Subpart E to detect substances including marijuana, cocaine, opiates, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines/methamphetamines.
