the Candidate / Role

Tradewind Aviation is seeking a motivated employee at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Caribbean Assistant Chief Pilot (CACP) is the Flight Operations Department’s principal representative in the Caribbean. The CACP’s primary responsibility is to oversee Caribbean-based pilots and to facilitate communication between those pilots and all other team members at Tradewind Aviation. The CACP supports local crewmembers and helps facilitate the needs of those crewmembers while coordinating with the needs of all other departments. The CACP is a partial flying job with assigned office days in their schedule. The CACP reports to the Chief Pilot.

Responsibilities

  • Provide feedback from the pilot group to the Chief Pilot
  • Provide feedback from the Chief Pilot to the pilot group
  • Oversee mentorship of PIC’s and SIC’s in their respective roles.
  • Ensure flight crews adhere to all policies and procedures in the General Operations Manual and other procedures documents
  • Ensure flight crews treat all company property appropriately, including condos and crew cars
  • Recommend and help develop new policies and procedures to improve safety, efficiency and client experience
  • Supervise Tradewind Aviation, LLC Standards Captains.
  • Recommend pilots for upgrade, additional training or disciplinary action as necessary.
  • On call pilot supervisor and office duty as assigned
  • Manage pilot schedules to include: payroll approval, vacation requests, sick days and day swaps.
  • Oversee station training and assign pilots to Standards Captains after completion of training and appropriately by region.
  • Attend Flight Operations meetings.
  • Attend weekly station meetings
  • Actively participate in quarterly standards and safety meetings.
  • Conduct required audits of aircraft and facilities.
  • The Assistant Chief Pilot may delegate these functions to subordinates, but may not delegate the responsibility for those functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at times
