Lead A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) Mechanic / Aircraft Maintenance Technician
Position Overview
A leading aviation company is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) Mechanic or Aircraft Maintenance Technician to join its team. This critical role is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities, performing complex aircraft repairs, and guiding a crew of technicians. The company is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead A&P Mechanic / AMT performs a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:
- Conducting diagnostic and mechanical tasks on various aircraft models, encompassing diagnosis of malfunctions, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and adjustment of aircraft systems to ensure airworthiness.
- Maintaining, correcting, or replacing complex aircraft assemblies and systems such as landing gear, air conditioning, pressurization systems, turbochargers, and optional equipment installations.
- Repairing or replacing engine components and accessories, including carburetors, fuel control units, fuel injection systems, air bleed systems, oil and fuel pumps, starter/generators, and hydraulic and vacuum pumps.
- Performing modification work on aircraft systems and structures, which may involve minor upholstery and touch-up paint work.
- Maintaining accurate written reports in logs and inspection documents; may observe mechanical systems during flight for troubleshooting purposes.
- Providing guidance and instruction to technicians, offering job-related training as needed.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current and valid A&P License is required.
- Knowledge of 100-hour, annual, and progressive inspection procedures as per FAR 43.
- Proficiency in arithmetic, interpreting blueprints, and specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of jet and piston airframe and engine principles and aircraft mechanical systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of varied jet, turboprop, piston, modification, 100-hour, and annual service experience as an A&P Mechanic.
- Preferred experience includes a minimum of 10 years as an A&P Mechanic, 2-3 years specifically on Textron Aviation aircraft, and experience working in a customer service facility performing aircraft inspections and repairs.
