JOB SUMMARY:

The External Pilot position primarily supports the Dugway flight acceptance testing operations-activity as the “Safety Pilot” responsible for any and all related emergency actions that may occur during the launch, flight-mission and recovery stages of the operation for assets under test ensuring safe recovery if or when required. Additionally, the External Pilot candidate will support various developmental flight-testing operations as required, maintenance activities, ground support equipment emplace/displace activity, flight record reconciliation, air vehicle inspections, pilot database management and other related administrative functions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Duties will include emplacement/displacement/inspection and replenishment of associated ground equipment as well as proper notation of logbooks and flight records. Perform as a Subject Matter Expert for operator related issues.

+ Practice Contractor Procedures compliance.

+ Daily Flight operations of Shadow 200 aircraft in support of R and D flight testing.

+ Direct interface with PMO, DCMA and engineering.

+ Supervise other pilots and External operators, perform applicable evaluations and pilot reviews.

+ In depth knowledge of Contractor Procedures Flight and Ground operations.

+ Work independently with minimal or no supervision.

+ Responsible for data management and generation of reports supplied to customer and company executive leadership.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

+ Minimum of 10 years’ experience piloting high performance Radio Control (R/C) Aircraft (Aerobatics, Jet, and or Helicopter) required

+ Manned aviation and or UAS operator experience is required.

+ Previous experience flying complex R/C designs preferred.

QUALIFICATONS:

+ Competition background (AMA/IMAC) preferred

+ Must be able to safely and effectively perform the duties of an AVO/MPO/IO without supervision, including flight, ground equipment operator setup/maintenance logs and records.

+ Ability to coordinate flight schedules, airspace, resources, frequency management, and other aspects of flight operations.

+ FAA licenses or certificates such as private pilot, commercial pilot, and instrument rating preferred.

+ Basic computer skills are required.

+ Must communicate effectively with internal and external customers both verbally and in writing and possess strong leadership skills.

+ Ability to obtain FAA Class II Medical is required.

+ Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
