Pilot Positions - Summer 2025
Taquan Air, based in Ketchikan, is seeking highly motivated and skilled pilots for the Summer 2025 season. The successful candidates will operate DeHavilland Beaver and Turbine Otter aircraft, exclusively on straight floats. Primary responsibilities will include the transport of freight and mail to various destinations in the Ketchikan area, as well as throughout Prince of Wales Island. Additionally, pilots will conduct flightseeing tours over the breathtaking Misty Fjords National Monument and surrounding landscapes.
Ideal candidates will be physically capable of loading and unloading cargo, demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, and possess the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Strong judgement and a unwavering commitment to safety are paramount.
Pilot Requirements:
- Possession of a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single-engine Sea Rating.
- Minimum of 500 hours total flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours cross-country flight time, including 25 hours of night cross-country time.
- Instrument Rating or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, as per FAR 135.243.
- While Taquan Air welcomes applications from pilots with a variety of experience levels, those with 1000 hours total flight time and 50 hours of float time are preferred.
- Prior experience instructing seaplane applicants is highly advantageous.
Chief Pilot Requirements:
- Fulfillment of all pilot requirements listed above.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a pilot operating under FAR Part 121 or 135 regulations.
- For first-time Chief Pilot applicants, this experience must have occurred within the last 6 years, as mandated by FAR 119.71.
- The Chief Pilot will be responsible for the management of the pilot staff, leading with exemplary conduct and ensuring steadfast adherence to Taquan Air's unwavering commitment to safety.
