Pilot Pathway Program Cadet

Program Overview
The Spirit Wings & Spirit Direct Pilot Pathway programs provide pilots enrolled at select partner flight schools or university programs with a direct pathway to the flight deck as a First Officer with Spirit Airlines.
While participating in the program, cadets receive valuable support and resources, including:
- Mentorship, guidance, and training opportunities from members of the Flight Operations team throughout the cadet's time in the program.
- Issuance of a full Spirit Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) providing early access to training materials in preparation for new hire training on the Airbus A320 series aircraft.
- Provision of Foreflight & Jeppesen Pro subscriptions by Spirit Airlines.
- Invitation to a "Spirit Day" event held at least once per year, offering opportunities to attend presentations, participate in training, and meet with Flight Operations leadership.
Qualifications
Prospective cadets must meet specific requirements based on their enrollment pathway:
Part 61 & 141 Flight School Requirements:
- A minimum of 500 hours total flight time.
- Possession of a Commercial Pilot Certificate.
- A strong recommendation from partner school faculty or the chief instructor.
- A current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- An FCC Radio Telephone Operator Permit.
- Valid passport/travel documents with at least nine (9) months of remaining validity, granting the ability to travel in and out of the USA and all cities/countries served by Spirit Airlines now and in the future.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
University Requirements:
- Successful completion of the sophomore year in an accredited aviation degree program.
- A strong recommendation from partner school faculty or the chief instructor.
- A current FAA First Class Medical Certificate or the ability to obtain one prior to commencing ATP/CTP and Jet Transition courses.
- An FCC Radio Telephone Operator Permit.
- Valid passport/travel documents with at least nine (9) months of remaining validity, granting the ability to travel in and out of the USA and all cities/countries served by Spirit Airlines now and in the future.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
Selected candidates are required to successfully complete all program requirements and meet the FAA requirements for an Unrestricted ATP or Restricted ATP (if enrolled in the university program). This phase culminates in a final program review. All cadets must attend ATP/CTP training and a Spirit Specific A320 Jet Transition course before being assigned a new hire class date. Upon availability of a new hire class date, cadets undergo pre-employment testing and background checks prior to formally joining a Spirit Airlines new hire pilot class.

Responsibilities as a First Officer
Upon successfully transitioning to the role of First Officer, core responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a safe and pleasant Spirit experience for all passengers.
- Safely assisting the captain in operating the aircraft in strict accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrating a passion for customer service and contributing a refreshing perspective to the airline industry.
- Performing other assigned responsibilities as required. It is understood that responsibilities and duties may be subject to change when circumstances dictate, such as during emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs, or technical developments.
