Spirit Wings & Spirit Direct Pilot Pathway Program - First Officer

Spirit Airlines is seeking highly motivated individuals for its Spirit Wings and Spirit Direct Pilot Pathway programs, offering a direct route to a First Officer position. This program provides mentorship, training, and early access to resources for aspiring pilots.

Program Benefits:

Qualifications:

  • Part 61 & 141 Flight School Requirements:
    • 500 hours total flight time.
    • Commercial Pilot Certificate.
    • Recommendation from a partner school faculty member or chief instructor.
    • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
    • FCC Radio Telephone Operator Permit.
    • Valid passport with at least nine months of validity, granting travel to all Spirit Airlines destinations.
    • Legal right to work in the United States.
  • University Requirements:
    • Completion of sophomore year in an accredited aviation degree program.
    • Recommendation from a partner school faculty member or chief instructor.
    • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate or ability to obtain prior to ATP/CTP and Jet Transition courses.
    • FCC Radio Telephone Operator Permit.
    • Valid passport with at least nine months of validity, granting travel to all Spirit Airlines destinations.
    • Legal right to work in the United States.

Selected candidates must complete all program requirements, meet FAA requirements for an Unrestricted ATP or Restricted ATP (for university program participants), and successfully pass a final program review. Prior to a new hire class date, all cadets will complete ATP/CTP and a Spirit-specific A320 Jet Transition course. Successful completion of pre-employment testing and background checks is required before a Spirit Airlines new hire pilot class date is assigned.

First Officer Responsibilities:

Upon becoming a First Officer, the individual will:

  • Ensure a safe and pleasant Spirit experience for all passengers.
  • Assist the Captain in operating the aircraft safely, adhering to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service and bring a refreshing perspective to the airline industry.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned, which may vary depending on circumstances, such as emergencies, changes in workload, or technical advancements.
