Job Summary
-
As a Destination 225 Pilot Liaison, you will play a crucial role in the development and performance tracking of student pilots within the Destination 225 Program. This full-time position requires your presence at the flight training facility for three days each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), while allowing remote work on Mondays and Fridays. You will be based primarily in one of the three specified locations but will travel to one of the other locations on the fourth week of each month. Reporting to the Manager of Pilot Pathways, your primary responsibilities will include monitoring and mentoring student pilots, tracking their performance, and providing regular reports on their progress towards their goals. You will teach occasional ground schools and provide simulator lessons to Cadets with predetermined topics set forth by the Destination 225 team. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting on the performance of the flight training provider and will hold regular briefings with Leadership and other Destination 225 Pilot Liaisons. You will be responsible for providing suggestions to continuously improve the experience of each Cadet. You will be the on-site representative for Southwest Airlines and the Destination 225 program.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the design and development of special projects and programs, utilizing Southwest Airlines Pilot expertise, as directed by Leadership

Works as part of a Project Team or on individual assignments as directed by Leadership

Reports on the results of project work to Leadership

Assists in analyzing root cause for Flight Operations issues, as assigned

Provides technical guidance on principles and topics relating to flying expertise, as assigned

Identifies deficits with current processes as assigned

Conducts analysis on processes and procedures as assigned

Documents all stages of project work

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Flight Ops operating environment

Skilled in oral and written presentation and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of personnel inside and outside the Company

Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
-
Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
-
Required: 10 years of experience as a Southwest Airlines Pilot
-
Required: No more than 3.5 years post SWA retirement or more than 6 months pre SWA retirement at the time of application
-
Required: 2 years of analytical or project work experience
-
Required: 2 years of the last 3 years of experience flying at Southwest Airlines
Licensing/Certification
-
Required: Must be able to maintain Pilot currency (as a former SWA Pilot) via Flight Ops Training Continuing Qualification Training (CQT) to remain current and maintain relevancy
Physical Abilities
-
Ability to complete annual proficiency certification process in the Simulator
-
Must have vision ability to view and read computer/video displays
-
Must be able to participate in the FAR directed Line Observation Program and be able to enter and exit the simulator in normal and emergency situations
-
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
-
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
-
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 23 years of age
-
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
-
Ability to work standard office hours Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day at Flight Operations Department at Headquarters

Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information

Pay & Benefits:
Pay of $137,250 - $152,000 yearly with the opportunity for future increase per applicable collective bargaining agreement wage scale. Opportunities for overtime and shift premiums.
