Job Purpose

The Flight Operations Flight Instructor supports the Flight Operations Department by providing professional training to pilots in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), the Advanced Qualification Program Manual (AQPM), the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM), and company standards. This role is responsible for conducting classroom and simulator instruction to ensure pilots possess the knowledge and practical experience necessary to provide safe, reliable service. This position is based at the corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct comprehensive classroom and simulator training sessions.
  • Facilitate effective pilot learning and development.
  • Develop instructional and evaluation materials to support training programs.
  • Maintain course material and procedural integrity through self-study, skills practice, and active participation in instructor meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by departmental leadership.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proven flying experience operating an aircraft.

Licensing & Certification

  • USA DOT/FAA Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (must include "Airplane Multiengine Land" category/class ratings and "English Proficient" limitation).
  • Valid United States Driver’s License.
  • Must meet all regulatory criteria to obtain and maintain Flight Deck Jumpseat Access, including successful and continuous enrollment in Rap Back.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency in flight training instruction and knowledge of FAR training requirements.
  • Experience with computer-based training workstations and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent English verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical aircraft documents and prepare written technical guidance.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to cover 24/7 operational requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight time constraints.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read computer, video, and flight deck displays frequently.
  • Ability to participate in the FAR-directed Line Observation Program.
  • Ability to enter/exit aircraft, simulators, and briefing rooms under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Must be able to sit in a simulator for up to 4 hours uninterrupted and perform duties in limited-space workstations for extended periods.
  • Ability to transport up to 25 lbs occasionally and manipulate flight controls at full deflection.
  • Ability to pass annual flight evaluations and facilitate training for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and operate flight simulation equipment.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no sponsorship available now or in the future.
  • Must adhere to company appearance standards and professional conduct expectations.
  • Requires ability to travel by air, including overnight stays.
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive company information.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a pay rate of $78.94 per hour, with potential for increases based on collective bargaining agreements, as well as opportunities for overtime and shift premiums. Comprehensive benefits include:
