Primary Responsibilities

The SkyWest Flight Attendant serves as a vital safety and service professional. Primary duties include:

  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers throughout flight operations.
  • Maintaining a positive, productive work environment for both passengers and crew.
  • Preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight food and beverage inventory, including the sale of onboard items.
  • Greeting passengers, managing carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering professional cabin announcements.
  • Providing authoritative leadership during emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Resolving passenger concerns, including medical emergencies or disorderly conduct, with composure.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance by inspecting and operating aircraft cabin systems and emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, oxygen systems, AEDs, and escape slides).
  • Adhering to all performance standards and safety procedures independently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possession of a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport book (valid for at least 12 months from application date) and necessary visas for travel to Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
  • Excellent English language proficiency to communicate safety protocols and document detailed reports.
  • Comfortable utilizing electronic devices and Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) for training, tracking sales, and flight operations.
  • Availability to work flexible, varied shifts up to 16 hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Capability to travel frequently and work autonomously for extended periods.
  • Proven reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to relocate to an assigned crew domicile, including: Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; or Tucson, AZ.

Physical and Professional Requirements

  • Height must be between 5'0" and 6'0" (without shoes) to ensure safe operation of aircraft and emergency equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of performing duties such as walking, bending, reaching, operating emergency exits (up to 45 lbs), and moving beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
  • Vision must be corrected to at least 20/40; hearing must be within 15-17kHZ range.
  • Professional appearance is mandatory; specific grooming standards apply regarding hair, piercings, and tattoos.
  • Must wear company-issued uniforms and compliant face coverings as required.

Compensation and Benefits

New hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours per month following successful completion of training. The base pay is $30.32 per flight hour (monthly guarantee of $2,304.32), plus $2.25 per diem for every hour on duty away from the domicile.
