Position Overview: Flight Attendant

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers throughout the flight.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Prepare, serve, and restock in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks; manage onboard retail sales.
  • Greet passengers, assist with carry-on baggage stowage, and conduct cabin announcements.
  • Provide leadership and direction during emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Resolve passenger conflicts and handle medical emergencies with composure.
  • Maintain safety regulation compliance by inspecting and operating cabin equipment, including oxygen systems, fire extinguishers, AEDs, and emergency exits.
  • Perform duties independently while adhering to all established safety and performance standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Possession of a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport book (valid for at least 12 months from application date) and necessary visas for travel between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
  • Excellent English communication skills, including the ability to write factual, detailed reports regarding security or emergency events.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) for tracking sales, operating systems, and training.
  • Availability to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work independently for extended periods.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to relocate to one of the following crew domiciles upon successful completion of training: Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; or Tucson, AZ.

Physical and Operational Standards

  • Height must be between 5'0" and 6'0" (without shoes).
  • Must be able to safely sit in jump seats, fasten harnesses, access aisles, and operate emergency exits.
  • Must be physically capable of frequent walking, bending, reaching, opening emergency exits (up to 45 lbs), and moving beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
  • Corrected vision must not exceed 20/40; hearing must be within 15-17kHZ range.
  • Must maintain a professional, neat appearance. Specific standards apply to tattoos, piercings (max two per ear; single 2mm nose stud), hair, and uniform compliance.

Compensation and Training

New hire Flight Attendants receive a guarantee of 76 flight hours as a reserve following the successful completion of initial training. The starting pay is $30.32 per flight hour. In addition, a per diem of $2.25 is provided for every hour on duty away from the domicile.
