Primary Job Duties
The Flight Attendant position is a dynamic and exciting role, offering opportunities for extensive travel and daily challenges. As the sole flight attendant on board, this professional serves as the embodiment of SkyWest Charter's commitment to exceptional service and paramount passenger safety. While previous experience is not mandatory, successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and an unwavering dedication to delivering the highest standards of customer care. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the absolute safety and comfort of all passengers throughout the flight.
- Cultivating a positive and productive atmosphere for both colleagues and customers.
- Efficiently preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, alongside managing on-board liquor and food sales.
- Warmly greeting passengers, providing assistance with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering essential on-board announcements.
- Demonstrating effective leadership, guidance, and assistance during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Skillfully resolving passenger concerns during flight, including addressing disorderly conduct and managing medical emergencies.
- Upholding strict compliance with all safety regulations by meticulously inspecting and safely operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, portable oxygen bottles, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Adhering diligently to established procedures and performance standards with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for the Flight Attendant position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior to commencing training, applicants must hold a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport book and all necessary visas for unrestricted travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, and other international destinations as dictated by charter schedules.
- Exceptional English communication skills are essential for conveying critical safety information to passengers and drafting clear, factual, and comprehensive reports regarding irregular, emergency, and security events.
- Prior experience within the service industry preferred (e.g., customer service, retail, hospitality, food service, aviation, safety, social service, healthcare/medical, or military).
- Proficiency in utilizing basic functions of electronic devices and Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) for operating audio and video systems, tracking in-flight purchases, and performing other flight and training-related duties.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, potentially up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel frequently and comfortably spend extended periods of time independently and without direct supervision.
- Capability to work in diverse environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, gas, or fumes; variations in temperature and/or humidity; and extreme temperatures.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with residency established within a two-hour radius of a large or medium hub airport.
- Availability to work on an on-call basis.
- Successful completion of a mandatory 24-day training course.
Physical and Other Requirements
Candidates must also meet the following physical and appearance standards:
- Height and weight must permit safe operation within the aircraft, including the ability to comfortably sit in a jump seat and fasten the harness, move freely throughout the cabin aisle, and effectively operate emergency exits. Height must be between 5’0” and 6’0” without shoes for safety reasons.
- Physical capability to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending below ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level. This includes the ability to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 45 pounds, push and pull a beverage cart weighing up to 250 pounds, and lift, store, transport, and reach for items, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Corrected vision should not exceed 20/40.
- Normal or corrected hearing must fall within the 15-17 kHz range.
- Maintain a consistently professional, neat, and clean overall appearance.
- Extreme hair styles or colors are not permitted.
- A single stud nose piercing (2mm or smaller) is allowed, along with two piercings per ear. Other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are strictly prohibited.
- Visible tattoos are permitted under specific limitations regarding dimension and location. Tattoos not conforming to these guidelines must be covered by the company uniform or with skin-tone compatible tattoo makeup; bandages are not an approved form of coverage. Offensive tattoos must never be visible. For on-demand charter flights, all visible tattoos must be covered by uniform or skin-tone compatible makeup.
- Adherence to wearing a company-issued uniform and compliant face mask/covering as required.

Flight Attendants are home-based, providing significant schedule flexibility. For scheduled trips, SkyWest Charter covers all travel from the Flight Attendant's residence to the required service location. Compensation includes competitive pay rates, paid training, and paid reserve time. All travel accommodations related to a Flight Attendant’s scheduled flight are fully covered by SkyWest Charter.
Upon successful completion of Phase One and Phase Two of the Initial New Hire training, new Flight Attendants are guaranteed 15 duty days per month.
On-Demand SWC Flight Attendant Pay Structure:
- Initial Training Pay: $60 per day.
- Base Daily Pay: Flight Attendants residing outside a SWC Base receive $165 per day, while those living within a SWC Base receive $175 per day.
- Compensation is based on a standard daily rate plus per diem. A per diem of $2.25 per hour is provided for every hour on duty away from the Flight Attendant's domicile or home base.
- Current SkyWest Charter Bases include: BNA, BOI, COS, FAT, JAX, MKE, OKC, PSP, SBN, and SLC. Base locations are periodically evaluated and may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
