Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of a SkyWest Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers onboard the aircraft. This encompasses a wide range of duties, including:
Safety and Security:
- Enforcing compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment.
- Providing effective leadership, direction, and assistance in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Calmly resolving passenger situations during flight, including disorderly passengers and medical emergencies.
Customer Service:
- Greeting passengers, assisting with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering onboard announcements.
- Efficiently preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, including the sale of onboard liquor and food.
- Consistently contributing to a positive and productive work environment with both employees and customers.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this rewarding position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Age: At least 21 years of age.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
- Travel Documents: Current, valid U.S. or foreign passport valid for at least 12 months following the application date, along with any applicable visas necessary for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Communication: Excellent English communication skills for delivering safety information to passengers and writing clear, factual, and detailed reports regarding irregular, emergency, and security events.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable utilizing basic functions of electronic devices and PEDs to operate audio and video systems, process in-flight purchases, and perform other flight and training duties.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel and Independence: Ability to travel frequently and spend lengthy periods of time alone and without direct supervision.
- Reliability: Must be reliable and punctual.
- Relocation: Willingness to relocate to one of SkyWest's crew domiciles as assigned by the company after successful completion of SkyWest InFlight Training. These domiciles include: Atlanta, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Height and Weight: Must meet specific aircraft dimensions to ensure safe operation. For safety reasons, height must be between 5'0" to 6'0" without shoes.
- Physical Abilities: Must be physically able to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 45 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds.
- Vision: Corrected vision should not exceed 20/40.
- Hearing: Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHz.
- Appearance: Professional, neat, and clean overall appearance.
- Hair: Extreme hairstyles or colors are not permitted.
- Piercings: Single stud nose piercing (2mm or smaller) is allowed. Two piercings allowed per ear with clear or skin-toned plugs not exceeding 1/2". Other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are not permitted.
- Tattoos: Visible tattoos are permitted with limitations based on dimension and location. Non-compliant tattoos must be covered by the uniform or with skin-tone compatible makeup. Offensive tattoos must not be visible.
- Uniform: Must wear a company-issued uniform and compliant face mask/covering as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
SkyWest Airlines offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including:
- Starting Pay: $28.86 per flight hour. Base compensation is calculated based on a 76-hour monthly guarantee.
- Per Diem: $2.25 per diem for every hour on duty away from the assigned domicile.
