Position Overview
SkyWest Airlines is seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. This dynamic role demands a unique blend of safety consciousness, customer service expertise, and the ability to remain calm and collected under pressure. As a SkyWest Flight Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive and memorable travel experience for each passenger, from seasoned travelers to first-time fliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers onboard the aircraft.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while serving meals, beverages, and in-flight amenities.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with passengers and colleagues.
- Efficiently prepare, serve, and restock in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, adhering to established service standards.
- Provide clear and concise safety briefings and onboard announcements.
- Greet passengers, assist with carry-on baggage stowage, and address passenger inquiries with a helpful and courteous approach.
- Proactively identify and address passenger needs throughout the flight.
- Remain vigilant and prepared to respond effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations, providing leadership, direction, and assistance when necessary.
- Employ effective communication and conflict resolution skills to manage challenging passenger interactions, including disorderly passengers, with professionalism and composure.
- Demonstrate proficiency in administering first aid and utilizing emergency equipment, including escape slides, fire extinguishers, portable oxygen bottles, and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), ensuring passenger safety in various situations.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight safety checks and ensure compliance with all safety regulations by meticulously inspecting and operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports pertaining to irregular, emergency, and security events.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and performance standards, consistently demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport with a minimum of 12 months of remaining validity from the application date.
- Obtain and maintain any necessary visas required for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing basic functions of electronic devices and PEDs, including operating audio and video systems, processing in-flight purchases, and performing other flight and training-related tasks.
- Be adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including varied shifts up to 16 hours, encompassing nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Be willing to travel frequently and spend extended periods away from home base.
- Possess a strong work ethic, characterized by reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
- Be willing to relocate to one of SkyWest's crew domiciles upon successful completion of Initial New Hire training.
Physical Requirements
- Meet specific height and weight requirements to ensure safe aircraft operation, including the ability to maneuver within the cabin aisle, operate emergency exits, and comfortably occupy the jump seat while wearing the provided harness (height range: 5'0" to 6'0" without shoes).
- Possess the physical capacity to perform job-related tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting objects weighing up to 45 pounds (e.g., closing aircraft doors).
- Demonstrate the ability to push and pull a beverage cart weighing up to 250 pounds.
- Exhibit corrected vision no worse than 20/40.
- Possess normal or corrected hearing within the range of 15-17kHz.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to uniform guidelines and grooming standards.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay of $28.86 per flight hour.
- Guaranteed 76 flight hours per month for new hire Flight Attendants following the successful completion of Initial New Hire training (Phases 1 & 2).
- Per Diem: $2.25 per hour for every hour on duty away from your assigned domicile.
