Oversees the day-to-day flight operations of the department. Supervises the operation of aircraft in support of the flight schedule and assumes responsibility for the department during the absence of the Director of Aviation. Assumes leadership role and sets the operating standards for all flight crew personnel.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Flight Operations

  • Assists the Director of Aviation in implementing and managing the Company safety program; makes recommendations for enhancing safety standards.
  • Evaluates and provides feedback to pilots while serving as a full-time flight crew member.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations to the Director of Aviation regarding new equipment and/or modification of present equipment.
  • Remains informed of the latest developments within the aviation community, to include national and international regulations, which may affect SCI Management Company’s operating procedures.
  • Assists the Director of Aviation with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Company pilots.
  • Incorporates and implement standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Ensures security of aircraft and passengers while under his command.
  • Keeps accurate maintenance of all required flight records.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Company policies, ICAO rules of flight, and Aircraft Flight Manual operating procedures and limitations.
  • Maintains relationships with the maintenance department, appropriate vendors, business group and regulatory agencies to enhance aircraft utilization.
  • Assists in preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Evaluates department expenditures incurred by subordinates.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing periodic reports and statistics as required.
  • Assume duties of Aviation Director when necessary.

Supervision and Training

  • Maintains the professional standards of SCI Management Company flight crews.
  • Supervises crew scheduling during absence of Director.
  • Manages and implements a comprehensive training program for all flight crew members; establishes criteria for implementing flight and ground training.
  • Establishing and supervising the initial and recurrent training of aviation department personnel with a professional training facility.
  • Instructing flight crews in the use of Flight Operations Manual (FOM).

EDUCATIONAL/Experience/MINIMUM Requirements

Education:

  • Some college coursework

Certification:

  • Valid FAA Airline Transport Certificate
  • Valid FAA Fist Class Medical Certificate
  • Current FAA Pilot-In-Command Proficiency Check in aircraft type assigned

Experience:

  • 3,000 hours total flight time, including at least 100 hours as Pilot-In-Command
  • 1,000 hours multiengine turbojet experience
  • One (1) year of service as a SCI Co-Pilot or Co-Captain

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Operations Manual, Aircraft Flight Manual, Aeronautical Information Manual and all applicable charts, FARs, and ICAO regulations
  • Remain informed of the latest developments within the business aviation community, including FARs, and other Federal, state, local and foreign regulations affecting operations
