Overview of the Role

SAS is actively recruiting highly experienced First Officers to join its dynamic fleet operations. As a vital part of the team, the successful candidate will operate the modern Embraer 195 or the core Airbus A320 aircraft, supporting SAS’s mission to connect Scandinavia with the world, a legacy upheld since 1946.

Current Fleet and Base Opportunities

Experienced First Officers are currently sought for assignments at key Scandinavian bases:

  • Copenhagen (CPH) – Embraer 195
  • Stockholm (ARN) – Airbus A320
  • Oslo (OSL) – Embraer 195
  • Bergen (BGO) – Embraer 195

Minimum Pilot Requirements

Prospective applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria at the time of application. All licenses must be current and valid:

  • Possession of an EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), or Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL).
  • A current EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Successful completion of an Advanced UPRT course.
  • Minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or 6.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work within the European Union (EU).
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Completed Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) Course.
  • A significant minimum of 500 hours flight experience on CS-25 certified aircraft.

Note: Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted; however, conversion is required prior to the commencement of the course. Successful candidates are required to complete a background check, a personal security interview, and drug and alcohol testing as conditions of employment.

Starting Salary Structure (Gross Monthly Figures)

Salaries are fixed according to collective agreements and are provided as gross monthly amounts. Additional daily allowances are supplied based on duty length and destinations. The relevant type ratings include the Airbus A320 or Embraer 195.

The Recruitment Process

The SAS Pilot Recruitment process is structured and comprehensive. Successful progression through each step is mandatory:

  1. CV Screening: Review of licenses, qualifications, and total flying experience.
  2. Video Interview: Recording of responses to a set of predefined questions.
  3. Online Interview: Live interaction with a SAS recruiter.
  4. Online Tests: Completion of cognitive and personality assessments.
  5. Assessment Day: Includes mandatory group exercises, a simulator session, and a final personal interview.
  6. Final Checks: Successful completion of background screening, personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.

Employment for successful applicants is projected to begin in the first half of 2026, following assessments scheduled for Fall/Winter 2025/2026.
