SAS is inviting applications from highly motivated and qualified aviation professionals for the position of First Officer. The airline is expanding its operations and is currently hiring First Officers for its state-of-the-art Embraer 195 and Airbus A320 fleets. Exciting opportunities are available at SAS bases in Stockholm (ARN), Bergen (BGO), Copenhagen (CPH), and Oslo (OSL).

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria at the time of application, with all licenses and certificates valid and up to date:

  • Possession of a valid EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi-Crew Pilot License. Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but require conversion before the start of the training course.
  • Holding a valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Completion of an Advanced UPRT course.
  • Demonstrated ICAO English Language Proficiency at Level 5 or 6.
  • Possession of an unrestricted right to live and work in the EU.
  • A clean criminal record.
  • Completion of an MCC Course.

Note: As a condition of employment at SAS, successful candidates will be required to undergo a background check, a personal security interview, and complete a drug and alcohol test. The security interview and testing must be conducted in the candidate's assigned base city.

Starting Salary for First Officers (Gross Monthly Salary Ranges):

Starting salaries are structured based on experience and relevant type ratings. These figures are gross salaries before tax and are fixed according to collective agreements; they are not negotiable. A daily allowance is also provided based on duty length and destinations.

Relevant Type Rating refers to an A320 or Embraer 195 rating.

Recruitment Process:

Candidates selected to advance through the process will typically undergo the following steps:

  • CV Screening: Review of qualifications, licenses, and flying experience.
  • Video Interview: Recording of answers to predefined questions.
  • Online Interview: A live interview with a SAS recruiter.
  • Online Tests: Completion of cognitive and personality assessments.
  • Assessment Day: Participation in group exercises, a simulator session, and a personal interview.
  • Final Checks: Completion of background screening, personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.

Candidates successful in the initial screening stages can anticipate invitations for assessment sessions during Fall/Winter 2025/2026. Employment is expected to commence in late 2025 or the first half of 2026.

Reapplication Policy:

Candidates who have previously applied but were not invited to an assessment are welcome to submit a new application.

Candidates who have previously attended an assessment but were not successful are eligible to reapply after a period of 12 months has elapsed.
