Minimum Requirements

All applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria. It is imperative that all licenses and certifications are valid and current at the time of application:

  • EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL)*
  • EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Completion of an Advanced UPRT course
  • ICAO English Level 5 or 6 proficiency
  • Unrestricted right to live and work within the European Union (EU)
  • Clean criminal record
  • Completion of an MCC Course (Multi-Crew Cooperation)

*Please note: Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but will require conversion prior to course commencement.

As a mandatory condition of employment with SAS, all successful candidates will be required to undergo a comprehensive background check, a personal security interview, and a drug and alcohol test. Both the security interview and testing procedures must be conducted in the city designated as the candidate's future base.

Starting Salary for First Officers

The starting gross salaries for First Officers are presented below. In addition to these figures, SAS provides a daily allowance determined by duty length and destinations.

Recruitment Process

The SAS Pilot Recruitment process is structured into several progressive steps. Candidates should be aware that each stage serves as a potential elimination point:

  • CV Screening: Initial review of qualifications, licenses, and flying experience.
  • Video Interview: Candidates record responses to a set of predefined questions.
  • Online Interview: A live interview conducted remotely with a SAS recruiter.
  • Online Tests: Completion of comprehensive cognitive and personality assessments.
  • Assessment Day: Held in person, including group exercises, a simulator session, and a personal interview.
  • Final Checks: Encompassing comprehensive background screening, a personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.
