First Officer Opportunities with SAS

SAS is seeking highly motivated and skilled First Officers to join its Embraer 190 and Airbus A320 fleet. These positions are based in ARN, BGO, CPH, and OSL. Due to continued expansion and evolving demographics, SAS offers excellent career advancement opportunities and permanent contracts. Whether the preference is for long-haul or short-haul flights, or a desire to explore diverse aircraft types, SAS provides a dynamic and rewarding environment for professional growth.

Since 1946, SAS has been a vital link connecting Scandinavia with the world, dedicated to keeping Scandinavia moving.

As a First Officer, the selected candidate will begin their journey on modern Airbus A320 or Embraer 190 aircraft. This role presents the challenge of operating in some of the world's busiest airports and remote airfields, often experiencing rapidly changing weather conditions. SAS provides a solid foundation for professional development. With experience and dedication, opportunities exist to progress to flying the A350 on international routes or to become a Captain on the EMB190, assuming greater responsibilities and leading their own crew.

Beyond piloting skills, the ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to cooperate effectively with a wide range of colleagues. They should be resilient, manage stress effectively, and consistently prioritize customer safety and enjoyment.

Requirements:

  • EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi Crew Pilot License. (Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but must be converted before the course starts.)
  • Instrument Rating.
  • EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate (Valid for at least 3 months at the time of entering employment).
  • Completed Advanced UPRT course.
  • English Language Proficiency Level 5 or higher.
  • Right to live and work in the EU.
  • Clean criminal record.

SAS Offers:

  • Competitive pension scheme.
  • Loss of license insurance and health insurance scheme.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Attractive discounted airline tickets for employees, their families, and friends.

Recruitment Process:

Selected candidates will be invited to an online assessment. Successful candidates will then be invited to a physical assessment day, including a group task, a personal interview, and a simulator assessment (45 minutes as Pilot Monitoring (PM) and 45 minutes as Pilot Flying (PF)). Candidates are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs. Training courses are scheduled for winter and spring 2025, as well as late summer 2025.

Working at SAS:

SAS covers all necessary training costs after employment. Pilots are required to commit to a training bond if their employment is terminated within 36 months. Full Type Rating: Pilots receiving a full type rating are subject to a 36-month training bond of 250,000 DKK/SEK/NOK. Renewed Type Ratings: Pilots receiving a renewed type rating within a 36-month period are subject to a 24-month training bond of 100,000 DKK/SEK/NOK. Employees are entitled to 42 days of vacation per year. The summer vacation is in a rotated system: you will get 3 weeks during the summer months.

SAS operates with Variable Group and Fixed Group rostering systems. All new hires are initially placed in the Variable Group, providing a minimum of 11 days off per month, with flexibility to influence free weekends and two additional free days through our bidding system.

SAS provides industry-discounted (ID) tickets for leisure travel and staff discount tickets with savings of up to 40%.

A daily allowance is provided to flight crew to cover expenses incurred while on duty or during training. The allowance amount depends on the length of the workday and the currency of the countries you are flying to.

Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have applied before, and not attended an Assessment Day, are welcome to reapply.
