Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) - Air Traffic Controller Training
SAIC is seeking a full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Anchorage ARTCC (ZAN) in Anchorage, AK. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by simulating pilot and other controller actions within an air traffic control training simulator. The RPO will utilize a simulated radar display and voice communication system to replicate the actions and communications of pilots and remote ATC facilities during high-fidelity training exercises.
About the Role
The Remote Pilot Operator is integral to the air traffic control training program. Responsibilities include:

Operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system.

Simulating pilot actions and communications during training exercises.

Responding to student voice commands by inputting data into the automated system.

Translating displayed information into appropriate Air Traffic Control (ATC) terminology.

Communicating with students via the Voice Communication System (VCS) using correct phraseology.

Completing required certifications, including classroom and lab-based assessments on airspace, procedures, and RPO duties.
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated basic computer proficiency.

Ability to read and interpret technical materials such as diagrams and manuals.

Clear verbal communication skills, ensuring audibility and understanding.

U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications

Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs is highly desired.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is highly desired.

Effective team building skills.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Basic familiarity with current technological tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications.

Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.
