SAIC is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, traveling Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) Supervisor position to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) Datacom Team. This role supports vital air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
PLEASE NOTE: This position is NOT a UAS, UAV, RPV, or DRONE pilot position.
The Remote Pilot Operator plays a critical role in Air Traffic Controller training simulations, acting as pilots and other controllers. The RPO operates simulated radar displays and voice communication systems to replicate the actions and communications of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. Responsibilities include receiving voice commands from student controllers, inputting corresponding actions into the automated system to simulate pilot responses, translating displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and responding to students via the Voice Communication System (VCS) using proper aviation phraseology.
The Federal Aviation Administration is responsible for ensuring the highest levels of safety and professionalism within the National Airspace System (NAS). A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce is essential to this mission. SAIC supports the FAA by providing crucial instructional services and training program support at ATC facilities across the U.S. and its Territories, preparing students to become fully certified air traffic controllers and providing recurrent training for current personnel.
This position requires candidates to complete specific certifications, including a Classroom certification involving passing tests on airspace and procedures, and a Lab certification demonstrating performance as a Remote Pilot Operator across all positions. The RPO Supervisor role requires certification equivalent to that of an RPO.
The target salary range for this position is estimated between $40,001 and $80,000. The final salary offered may vary based on experience and other relevant factors. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis; there is no specific deadline for submissions.
