Pilot Position at Republic Airways

Overview

Republic Airways is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pilot to join its esteemed flight operations team. This pivotal role ensures the safe and efficient operation of aircraft, working in direct support of the Captain. The Pilot will be responsible for a range of duties critical to flight execution and aircraft management.

Position Purpose

The Pilot supports the aircraft Captain by ensuring the safe and timely piloting of aircraft and performing essential aircraft management duties. This role is fundamental to maintaining operational integrity and passenger safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides the Captain with comprehensive flight planning, utilizing all applicable weather information and reports in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Determines aircraft airworthiness in accordance with FARs and Company policies and procedures; completes appropriate preflight inspections.
  • Collaborates with the Captain to ensure flights are properly planned and fueled for safe conduct, adhering to all policies and regulations.
  • Safely, properly, and effectively operates the aircraft during the designated duty period, following the Captain’s instructions and in accordance with FARs and Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated, governing FARs, and relevant manuals, policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Notifies crew and passengers of turbulent weather conditions or other operational factors affecting the flight.
  • Completes the load manifest for each flight.
  • Contributes to a reliable and on-time operation by assisting the Captain in meeting all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
  • While at the terminal, assists with and ensures the proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance according to Company procedures and practices.
  • Presents a professional appearance and adheres to the Company uniform dress code.
  • Conducts oneself professionally at all times while on duty and observes the Rules of Conduct as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other related policies and procedures.
  • Engages in continuous professional training to upgrade performance and abilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
  • ATP written exam completion is preferred.
  • Must meet the current FAA and Company interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements.

If a candidate interviews with the minimums but not the hiring minimums, they will be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process if they:

  • Meet the Hiring Minimums within six months of the interview date.
  • Have no certificate action since the interview date.
  • Have no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
  • Accept a class date within six months of the interview date.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Prior customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.

Language Skills

The ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations is essential, sometimes requiring quick comprehension under stressful or emergency situations. The candidate must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public. Fluency in spoken and understood English, including the ability to issue shouted verbal commands during emergencies, is required.

Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability

The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists is necessary. The candidate must be capable of interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Maintaining composure, thinking, and reacting quickly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence, is paramount.

Decision Making & Impact of Errors

The Pilot makes decisions that support strategic direction, typically with medium-range significance and moderate consequences. However, in unusual situations, decisions may have significant safety-of-flight consequences. Errors in judgment could require additional expenditure of resources and may impact safety. The ability to process information quickly and react positively during unexpected and/or serious situations, while controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress, is critical.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and/or crawl.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods without standing.
  • Capability of lifting or moving items at different heights weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to adhere to the visual demands set by the FAA medical standards.
  • Ability to hear clearly verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Possess the stamina to work long days, on sequential days, with frequent changes in temperatures, climate, and weather conditions.
  • Ability to move freely, effectively, and quickly about the aircraft and perform all required functions in a confined environment.
  • Ability to sit in the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • This position requires the ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions within an open-air hangar and on the flight line for extended periods.
  • The noise level may be loud, and the use of a headset is required.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days, as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements

Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. The ability to work extended hours with limited scheduling control and be ready to report to work with little notice is required. Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.
