Pilot

This position supports the Aircraft Captain by ensuring the safe and timely operation of aircraft, and by performing additional aircraft management duties.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides the Captain with thorough flight planning, utilizing all pertinent weather information and reports, in compliance with Company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Determines aircraft airworthiness according to FARs and Company guidelines, and executes comprehensive preflight inspections.
  • Collaborates with the Captain to ensure proper flight planning and fueling, promoting safe operation in accordance with regulations and policies.
  • Operates the aircraft safely and effectively during designated duty periods, adhering to the Captain's instructions, FARs, and Company standards.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of operational equipment, FARs, manuals, policies, procedures, and other pertinent instructions.
  • Informs crew and passengers of any turbulent weather or other operational factors impacting the flight.
  • Completes the load manifest for each flight.
  • Contributes to operational reliability and on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all report, departure, and minimum turn times.
  • Assists with and ensures proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo while at the terminal.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Presents a professional demeanor and adheres to the Company uniform policy.
  • Conducts oneself professionally at all times while on duty, observing the Rules of Conduct outlined in the Flight Operations Manual and other related policies.
  • Pursues continuous professional training to improve performance and capabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
  • ATP written examination is preferred.
  • Must meet current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements established by the FAA and Company.

Candidates meeting interview minimums, but not hiring minimums, are eligible for hire if they meet hiring minimums within six months of the interview, have no certificate action since the interview, have no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview, and accept a class date within six months of the interview.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior customer service experience, preferably within an aviation environment.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures and governmental regulations, often under time-sensitive or stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to and address inquiries from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the public.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to speak clearly and be understood, including the delivery of shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.

Reasoning and Problem-Solving Ability:

  • Capable of solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret multiple instructions, presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Must remain calm and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including medical events, aircraft decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.

Decision Making & Impact of Errors:

  • Makes decisions that support strategic direction. Decisions are typically medium-range and of moderate consequence but may have significant safety-of-flight implications in unusual circumstances.
  • Capable of processing information rapidly and responding positively during unexpected and/or critical situations.
  • Able to manage personal and emotional reactions and act appropriately under high-stress levels.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl.
  • Able to sit for extended periods without standing.
  • Capable of lifting or moving items at varying heights up to 75 pounds.
  • Meets the visual standards defined in the medical requirements set by the FAA.
  • Capable of hearing verbal communications clearly, including in-person conversations, telephone calls, and headset communications with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Possesses the stamina to work long days, on consecutive days, with frequent changes in temperature, climate, and weather conditions.
  • Able to move freely within the aircraft and perform all required functions in a confined space.
  • Able to sit in the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened, without modifications.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires the ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Able to withstand outdoor weather conditions within an open-air hangar and on the flight line for extended periods.
  • The noise level may be loud, and the use of a headset is required.
  • Willing and able to work extended duty periods on consecutive days, as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is required up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
  • Able to work extended hours with limited scheduling control and be ready to report to work with minimal notice.
  • Willing to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.
