About the Role
As a First Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft. Working closely with the Captain, you will contribute to all aspects of flight planning, execution, and management, adhering to the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Captain to meticulously plan each flight, utilizing weather information, reports, and adhering to Company procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Conduct thorough preflight inspections to verify aircraft airworthiness, in accordance with FARs and Company policies.
- Ensure proper fueling and flight planning for safe and compliant operations.
- Safely and effectively operate the aircraft under the Captain's instruction, adhering to FARs and Company procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with crew and passengers regarding flight conditions and operational factors.
- Complete load manifests accurately for each flight.
- Contribute to on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all reporting, departure, and turnaround times.
- Provide exceptional customer service while at the terminal, assisting with the handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo.
- Maintain impeccable professional conduct, adhering to the Company uniform dress code and Rules of Conduct.
- Pursue continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Captain and the Company.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
- ATP written exam completion is preferred.
- Meet the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hours requirements established by the FAA and the Company.
- Prior experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within the aviation industry, is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand technical documents, government regulations, and operational manuals.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with crew, passengers, air traffic control, and management.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to analyze situations, identify solutions, and make sound decisions, particularly under pressure.
- Adaptability: Capacity to remain calm and respond effectively to unexpected events and emergencies.
- Physical Fitness: Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 75 pounds, working in confined spaces, and withstanding varying environmental conditions.
- Travel Availability: Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends, holidays, and overnight stays, with potential relocation based on operational needs.
