Requirements

The RCMP Air Services Branch is seeking candidates to include in our inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for future assessment. It is important that potential candidates read the ‘Important Messages’ contained in the job posting on the jobs.gc.ca webpage as the qualifications to fly our aircraft have changed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications):

Education:

1. A secondary school diploma or Degree Equivalency

Licenses/Certificates:
1. a) Fixed wing pilots must possess: A valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) or a Commercial Pilot’s license, with a group 1 or 3 Instrument Flight Rating.
1. b) Rotary wing pilots must possess: A valid ATPL or Commercial Pilots License with valid Night Rating.
2. An unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate.

Experience:

1. Must have a minimum of 3000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time.

Special Requirements:

1. The candidate must write on his/her application that he/she is willing and able to:
a) relocate anywhere in Canada,
b) spend long hours in travel status,
c) as Pilot in Command, accept all responsibility for decisions respecting the safety of aircraft and passengers in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

Top Secret security clearance – This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is responsible for the security clearance process.

The candidate must meet the RCMP medical requirements. This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The RCMP is responsible for the medical clearance process.

This factor will be used when the candidate is successful in the recruiting process. Aspiring pilots will be required to successfully complete the standard training, as listed below, in order to meet the position requirements:

1. Must successfully complete the Air Services Special Constable Member Training.
2. Must successfully complete the line indoctrination as indicated in the Air Services Fixed Wing Operations Manual (FWOM) or the Rotary Wing Operations Manual (RWOM).
3. Must successfully complete the Air Services Safety Management Training.
4. Must successfully complete any additional required and/or recurrent training and qualifications as indicated in the Air Services FWOM/ RWOM, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and RCMP policy.
