About the Role
This pivotal role seeks a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our esteemed flight operations team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of flights aboard the DHC-8-Q400 aircraft, upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Flight Planning and Decision-Making: The Captain meticulously assesses meteorological and aeronautical conditions at departure, destination, and alternate airfields. This crucial assessment informs the decision to proceed with the flight, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory documents governing flight operations and guaranteeing the timely and safe departure of the aircraft.
- Aircraft Pre-Flight Readiness: Prior to each flight, the Captain personally inspects the external condition of the aircraft, thoroughly reviews the aircraft's technical logbook, and formally signs off on all flight-related documents. These actions are performed in strict accordance with internal rules and procedures to confirm absolute aircraft readiness for flight.
- In-Flight Operations and Safety Management: Responsibilities include preparing the flight deck, performing necessary calculations that account for prevailing weather and runway conditions, and expertly managing the aircraft and crew throughout the flight. This ensures compliance with the company’s internal rules and procedures, thereby upholding the highest standards of flight safety.
- Flight Recorder Oversight: The Captain monitors the proper functioning of both flight data and voice recorders in accordance with internal procedures, ensuring their uninterrupted and reliable operation for post-flight analysis and safety assurance.
- Air Traffic Communication and Situational Awareness: From the moment of assuming duty, throughout the flight, and until chocks are placed at the parking stand, the Captain maintains continuous and professional communication with air traffic controllers and other aircraft. This includes promptly responding to ATC requests in accordance with radio communication procedures, thereby ensuring continuous situational awareness on assigned radio frequencies.
- Post-Flight Debriefing and Error Mitigation: Following each flight, the Captain conducts comprehensive post-flight debriefings with the crew. This involves providing constructive feedback and discussing any observations in line with internal rules and procedures, aimed at preventing and minimizing potential crew errors and fostering continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Higher education in aviation or a certificate from an an approved Aviation Training Center confirming successful completion of training and issuance of a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
- Licensing: Valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL(A)).
- Flight Experience: A minimum of 3,000 flight hours (this requirement may be reduced by the Director of Flight Operations in accordance with the Operations Manual Part A).
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of international civil aviation standards and recommended practices, including ICAO, IATA, and EASA regulations.
- Language Proficiency: Aviation English proficiency at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
- Type Rating: Current and valid type rating on the DHC-8-Q400 aircraft.
