First Officer (SIC) - Citation XLS - Wheeling, IL
George J. Priester Aviation, a distinguished leader in the Part 135 charter industry, seeks a highly motivated and skilled First Officer (Second in Command) to join its team. The First Officer will support the Pilot in Command (PIC) in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft, adhering to company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and industry best practices. This position, based in Wheeling, IL (KPWK), involves operating a Citation XLS for approximately 240-270 hours annually.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the PIC in comprehensive flight operations, including meticulous weather analysis, route planning, precise aircraft performance calculations, and thorough pre-flight inspections.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all applicable regulations, standard operating procedures, and the company's Flight Operations Manual.
- Continuously monitor instrumentation and aircraft systems throughout all phases of flight.
- Operate navigational and communication radios as directed by the PIC, securing necessary clearances and relaying essential instructions.
- Maintain exceptional crew coordination and communication, providing constructive feedback to the PIC and crew members to guarantee safe and efficient flight operations.
- Actively participate in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is impeccably clean, well-stocked, and fully prepared for flight.
- Verify the presence of all necessary manuals, charts, and passenger-specific items (e.g., catering) prior to each departure.
- Assist with post-flight procedures and meticulous documentation.
- Remain vigilant for any abnormal situations or deviations from standard procedures.
- Assume control of the aircraft in the event of PIC inattention or incapacitation to avert potential hazards.
- Participate in safety audits, corrective action plans, and preventive measures.
- Assist in providing exemplary customer service, ensuring passenger comfort and safety throughout the flight.
- Support the PIC in addressing passenger needs and delivering an exceptional flight experience.
Qualifications:
- 1000-2500 total flight hours, with a minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft.
- Turbine experience is highly preferred.
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine instrument rating or higher is mandatory.
- Must possess a current First-Class Medical Certificate.
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations and flight operations procedures.
- Exceptional communication and decision-making skills, demonstrating the ability to function effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in Crew Resource Management (CRM) and flight management systems.
- Must be able to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for charter flight assignments.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull over 50 pounds when handling baggage and equipment.
- Must possess a valid passport and be willing to travel for extended periods, as required by the flight schedule.
Compensation:
$90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year.
